Acts 1: 1-5
1 In my earlier work, Theophilus, I dealt with everything Jesus had done and taught from the beginning
2 until the day he gave his instructions to the apostles he had chosen through the Holy Spirit, and was taken up to heaven.
A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Prayer to the Holy Spirit composed by St Josemaria Escriva in 1934
Come, O Holy Spirit! Enlighten my mind to know your commandments;
strengthen my heart against the snares of the enemy;
inflame my will. I have heard your voice;
I don’t want to harden my heart and resist,
saying ‘Later…, tomorrow.’ Nunc coepi!
Now I begin, in case there is no tomorrow for me.
O Spirit of truth and wisdom,
Spirit of understanding and counsel,
Spirit of joy and peace!
I want whatever you want.
I want it because you want it,
I want it however you want it,
I want it whenever you want it…
