A terrorist opened fire inside a popular Orlando gay club early Sunday leaving “approximately” 20 people dead and 42 others wounded, according to authorities.
La2 a.m. attack as “well organized and well prepared” and said the shooter, who was not from the Orlando area, may have had “leanings” toward radical Islam.
Cops found the lone gunman and multiple victims dead inside the Pulse nightclub about four hours after the incident that sparked a standoff with police.
Police used a distraction device a (controlled explosion) and killed the suspect in the process – who was armed with an assault-type rifle, a handgun and “unidentified device” .
A off-duty policeman working as a security guard in the club first confronted the shooter outside the club which had around 320 people inside and the attacker moved the incident indoors and opened fire and took hostages.
“Everyone was running and screaming.” We were just leaving the club and we started hearing the shots,”
“I heard 20, 40, 50 shots,” Alamo said. “The music stopped.”
“I was thinking, are you kidding me? So I just dropped down. I just said, ‘Please, please, please, I want to make it out,’” he said. “And when I did, I saw people shot. I saw blood. You hope and pray you don’t get shot.”
Police later confirmed the shooter was dead just before 6 a.m. and said the incident was a “mass casualty situation.”
