Sandra Grazzini-Rucki, 50, hides her teenage daughters in horse ranch from their dad for 2 years – why damage the children

She found guilty of driving her two eldest daughters to a horse ranch where she left them for two and a half years without returning.

On April 19, 2013, Sandra Grazzini-Rucki, 50, dropped off her daughters — then 14 and 13 — at a horse ranch near Herman, Minn., and promised she’d see them soon.

Instead she hid them from their father, who’d been granted custody of the girls following the couple’s divorce, for more than two years without a single visit.

Grazzini-Rucki’s daughters, Samantha and Gianna Rucki, had run away from the home of a paternal aunt with temporary custody of the kids before they were taken to the farm.

Grazzini-Rucki was charged with six counts of deprivation of parental rights in connection with taking and concealing the girls and violating a child custody order, according to the county attorney’s office.

She found guilty of driving her two eldest daughters to a horse ranch where she left them for two and a half years without returning.

“It is simply inappropriate and unacceptable for any parent to hide their children and keep them from the custodial parent in violation of a court order for any amount of time,”

“The almost two and a half years that these children were hidden led to significant trauma to her daughters and caused significant adverse impacts to the rest of the family,”

– Dakota County District Attorney James Backstrom .
