Gulfport cops believe Ezzie Johnson, 19, recorded the attack and distributed it online. The original video was removed, but other versions have since been shared thousands of times.
“Once again we are witnessing the dark side of social media,” Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania said during a press conference on Wednesday. “I can’t help but be disturbed by the incredible number of shares and views of this crude and despicable event.”
Facebook user Tiffany Hailey said she saw the attack as it happened online.

“I’m looking at the time date and stamp on it and this is happening right now,” she told the Clarion-Ledger. “You see it escalating.”
Hailey told the newspaper she did not contact the police, but she wanted to help the victim. She posted the video on her Facebook page with the message, “if you know this girl, please do help her. This is serious.”
“This is gut wrenchingly horrific,” Hailey said, according to the paper. “It’s really, really, bad.”
The alleged assault took place in Haleigh Alexis Hudson’s home. She has been charged with sexual battery and kidnapping.

It was taken after Hudson and Johnson allegedly forced the 23-year-old victim to perform oral sex on a man as she kneeled on the floor of a bathroom of Hudson’s home on Tuesday night.
As others watched, they egged her on to continue despite her telling them she was ready to go home, according to The Clarion Ledger which viewed the footage in full before it was removed.
When the assault was over, the group moved to a couch in the living room. There, Hudson and the others allegedly encouraged the victim to perform the act again to boost viewer numbers.
When she refused, Hudson started slapping her. The footage showing the incident in the bathroom has been entirely expunged from Facebook.
One video remains in circulation. It begins on the couches and shows the group tormenting the victim for more than a minute.
It shows Hudson slapping the 23-year-old woman repeatedly, urging her to fight while Johnson records the scene, pausing to view comments.
The much heavier Hudson dragged the woman to the floor by her hair, standing over her and hitting her in the head.
The unidentified victim can be heard crying and screaming on the tape. She tried to run for the door at one point but was stopped by the pair.

The sexual assault took place Tuesday in suspect Haleigh Alexis Hudson’s apartment, according to cops. The attack appeared to take place in a bathroom.
Johnson, the 19-year-old Hudson and 17-year-old Kadari Fabien Booker were all charged with sexual battery and kidnapping.
Johnson has been charged with felony kidnapping. Both 17-year-olds will be tried as adults
Gulfport cops say more arrests may be coming.
All three are being held in the county jail. Bond for Hudson has been set at $400,000.Bond for Johnson is set at $200,000 while bond for Booker is set at $500,000.
