On Tuesday, Canales tried to make light of the crime by sharing memes on social media including one with her hand in the cookie jar. Another showed her still wearing the mustard-colored skirt she had on in the Uber.

Canales was filmed coyly glancing towards the driver’s camera before making off with the money in August. By the time he realized it was gone, she and her two friends had left the car.
Her two friends in the car seemed unaware of her plot and did not respond as she snatched the money before getting out.
On the same day, the boy in their group however taunted police by sitting in front of a line-up of cops sitting on a locked-up bicycle. He captioned the image: ‘Who’s bike?’ [sic].
According to Mohammed H. Bhuiyan’, the affected driver, Uber dropped the matter when they contacted Canales and she denied ever stealing the money.
They told him take the matter to police if he wanted to pursue it further but the man says he was too busy.
Uber has since contacted him again to offer him more support and have banned Canales from using the app.

When Mohammed H. Bhuiyan contacted Uber, they responded with: “We understand your frustration with this experience. We’ve attempted to contact the rider by phone and email, but haven’t been able to resolve this issue.
“The rider responded to us and advised us that she didn’t steal your cash from the tip jar. If you believe the rider has your cash as captured from your dash cam and is refusing to return it, you may want to initiate a formal investigation via the police.”
Canale’s Uber account has now been deactivated and she will no longer be able to use the service.
The video was first published on YouTube in August but since gained attention online this weekend, leading to the identity of the thief being revealed, as well as, her online outburst.
It is not clear whether or not police have investigated it

  1. Disgusting!
And I’m not sure that she knew there was a camera filming backwards.
The very small objectiv of the camera must have been inside the special mirror so you don’t see it.
She must have been controlling that the drver don’t look in the mirror at the moment she acted.
Other passenger must have accomplice, because I have never seen that you leave a Uber or a Blabla car so quickly.
Don’t you always say “Goodby” before leaving? Even in New-York, no?
On the other side, she/they are about 18 years old: are they going to grow adults? Let’s pray it’s the case!
    Bless you!
