LA Fitness has reportedly fired a manager and two other staff at the New Jersey gym where two black men were escorted out by police on Monday, as a consequence of what has been described as racial profiling of membership.

The male manager who was seen telling police to stop the filming at the Secaucus, New Jersey, gym has been ‘removed from the company,’ a spokesperson at their corporate office told NJ.com.
The company said that two women who worked at the gym were also let go for their part in badgering the two men.
‘I know the incident was really bad,’ he said, adding that L.A. Fitness had supposedly apologized to offended member and his friend.

‘After about a half hour I was approached by this same employee telling me that I had to leave or pay and I explained to her that I just signed in with her with the guest pass,’ Oates shared on the post. ‘ She stated that it was my friend who did not pay.
Oates had posted on Facebook that they had been contacted by the gym but wouldn’t act or speak on any of the news until a written statement was released.
LA Fitness has not released a statement regarding the incident.

‘This [is the] LA Fitness manager [addressing the officer] who refused to give us his reason to kicking us out, and refused to give us his name stated that I was banned from the gym and my friend’s gym membership has been terminated effective immediately’ – Tshayrad Oates’ friend is seen on the right

Oates claims that his friend first explained the he was in fact a member at the gym, having just left his gym tag in the facility’s locker room.

And while the friend made note of how he felt racially profiled and embarrassed, the two continued on with their workout until two police officers arrived and asked why they had no memberships.
‘We explained to them about our guest pass and rescanned my friend’s member tag and it resulted in current active status,’ Oates stated, adding that the employee said nothing when they saw the status.
Proceeding on with their workout for an additional 10 minutes, Oates claims that the pair were then asked to leave by the La Fitness manager.
